John Piper's Opera House located on B Street at Union
Street in Virginia City. This is the third incarnation of this opera
house, whose predecessors burned down during the 1870's and 1880's. Twain and Dan De Quille often visited Piper's Old Corner Saloon after putting the paper to bed as it was just down the street from the Territorial Enterprise building. De Quille writes about their visits in his book The Big Bonanza. (Part of this frame was lost at the end of a roll of film.) |
