I tried taking a series of photographs
in the clearing above the house, where people gathered
to smoke cigars and
sing, but it was so dark I couldn't focus my camera, automatically or manually,
and had to guess at the focus. This is the only picture that came out reasonably
well.
All I saw when I took it was pure blackness.
